A Bali starling living in our sanctuary on the Balinese island of Nusa Pendia.
OUR PROJECTS ON NUSA PENIDA
The Nusa Penida island group, which sits off the coast of Bali in the Lombok Strait, is home to our community-supported bird sanctuary. From here, we run a range of holistic conservation and community development programs.
These projects aim to restore the island habitat and protect its wildlife, while also providing alternative, sustainable livelihood options for local communities and educational opportunities for their young people.
Our programs are rapidly growing and evolving to help address critical environmental and socio-economic needs. The Balinese Hindu communities on Nusa Penida, the largest of the three islands in the group, live simple lives supported through subsistence agriculture, fishing, seaweed farming and eco-cultural tourism in both coastal and remote inland villages.
